And with the Songs of the Games Contest, you too can be part of its vocabulary, and its voice.

Simply choose any one of 14 songs that you like, and give your own unique interpretation through your own rendition.

We are looking for originality, musicality and creativity in your expressions.

We hope to uncover new and interesting angles to each of the Songs of the Games.

Terms and Conditions

Here are some FAQs

  1. What are the judges looking for?

    Originality and musicality.
    It should be based on the melody and lyrics of each song.

  2. Do I have to record the whole song?

    No. But the submission should be at least 60 seconds.

  3. When is the submission period?

    From 3 March – 3 May 2015.
    Winners will be announced at the end of May.

  4. Who is this contest open to?

    The competition is open to everyone from Southeast Asia.

  5. Is there a minimum age to join the contest?

    No, but contestants under the age of 18 will need to have their submissions made by a parent/guardian.

  6. How will the winners be decided?

    The decision by the panel of judges will be final.

  7. How will I know if my submission has been selected for any of the prizes?

    You will be notified through your contact submission details.

  8. Must my submission be a solo entry?

    No, you may choose to form a group. There is no size limit to the group.

  9. Do I have to perform with any musical instruments?

    No. You may just sing. But should you choose to, you may play with any musical instrument of your choice. Remember, our judges are looking for musicality and originality. So be creative with it.

  10. Is there a limit to the number of songs I can submit?

    Each participant can only submit a maximum of 2 songs.



Sydney Tan has been involved professionally in music for the last 30 years as a director, producer and arranger. During this time, he has arranged and produced music for top artistes in Singapore and Asia and has been Music Director for well-known musicals like Forbidden City and Beauty World, movies like Singapore Dreaming and multiple May Day and National Day Parades. He is the musical director for the SEA Games as well as the National Day Parade 2015.

For Singapore 2015 28th SEA Games, Sydney helms a team of songwriters, arrangers and artistes across a wide reach in terms of demographics as well as genre (including Dick Lee, Joshua Wan and the Steve McQueens, Charlie Lim, The Sam Willows, Amir Masoh, Tabitha Nauser, Daphne Khoo, Don Richmond, YouTube sensation Joel Tan aka Gentle Bones, and newcomer Jean Tan to list a few.)


Amir Masoh is a songwriter and producer currently signed to Universal Music Publishing. As a teen debuting in the music industry in the 90s, Amir won several awards at Yamaha Music events in Singapore and Japan. 

Working across three languages, English, Bahasa Malay and Mandarin, Amir has produced songs for regional artists such as Hebe of SHE, Shin and Fahrenheit, as well as local artists such Imran Ajmain, Daphne Khoo, Jack & Rai and Taufik Batisah. More recently Amir has travelled extensively engaging in songwriting camps for the international market. 

For the 28th SEA Games, Amir has been an integral part of the Music Production team and his songs “Ordinary” and “Unbreakable” are featured songs in the SONGS of the GAMES Collection.
